Norton Arts Incorporated

LogoNorton Arts Incorporated specializes in fine art conservation and historical architectural preservation.  The company was founded by Wendel and Elizabeth Norton in New York City in 1989 and now has a facility at 1206 Main Street.

ImageThe conservators at Norton Arts utilize time tested traditional methods while employing state of the art technology in their practice. Currently Norton Arts operates conservation facilities in North Arkansas, Little Rock, New York City, and San Francisco.

Additional Information:

In addition to work on large-scale projects for clients ranging from universities to private collections, Norton Arts offers its services to individuals in the Little Rock area. The office on Main Street provides the community with a resource for art conservation and preservation.   In addition to meeting with clients and receiving artwork for conservation at the Main Street facility,  the Nortons showcase local artists at this location.

Once work is received it is transported to the conservation studio in northwest Arkansas.  This facility is located on the historic family homestead, adjacent to the historic home built in the Ozark vernacular style dating back to 1837.  After extensive renovation following the historic integrity of the structure, the home was placed on the historic register as a prime example of an Ozark farmstead in the vernacular style.

ImageThe Cave Creek studio follows the plan of the Cave Creek grange hall that was destroyed by a tornado in the 1970’s.   This large, well lit space has a modern conservation facility and a well appointed art studio.  Wendel Norton, head conservator of Norton Arts,  has extensive experience in painting and sculpting.  As a sculptor, Wendel works in ceramics and stone.  His work includes large scale outdoor installations, visible around the family property, and smaller ceramic pieces.  He is currently working on an edition of amphoras in the traditional Greek style.

Wendel and Elizabeth Norton both enjoy the excitement of the city tempered by time spent enjoying the deep peace of their family home.   Norton Arts is dedicated to preserving the artistic and architectural heritage of the state and providing education to the community in the fields of fine art and art conservation.
